The island of Iloilo in the Philippines. a world where sexual violence is insidious, trivialized, nourished by a culture of silence linked to ignorance, shame or denial. I followed Shaline Gamala. During her childhood she was raped daily by a member of her family. A situation that lasted for 13 years. She broke her silence when she was 17 years old and was thus able to be taken in by the Centre Caméléon. Today Shaline is 25 years old and works for Chameleon, which takes in about 50 girls who are victims of sexual violence. I followed the daily life of the girls beside her. After school, the children are supervised by various childcare professionals. Every month, a little girl and an adult team up to clean the centre, wash household linen, prepare food… Thanks to Shaline I was able to approach the girls and film them with confidence. They are beautiful, strong but also tormented by demons that the world seems to ignore.
